Simplify CUI
S.T.A.R. technology reduces the complexity and cost of CUI.

S.T.A.R. SCAN – TECHNOLOGY
Fusing advanced sensors
S.T.A.R. sensors fuse a range of advanced measurement capabilities to enable handheld, non-intrusive detection of corrosion under insulation (CUI), and liquid moisture, on operational pipework and process vessels – without removing the outer polymeric cladding layer.
Embedded sensors include:
- Terahertz – measures terahertz light from deep beneath the cladding
- Thermal – measures the temperature of the cladding surface
- Inertial – monitors relative system position and orientation

Continuous calibration
Subtera’s sensors are equipped with internal calibration technology. Momentarily before and after scanning an asset, a rapid calibration is automatically initiated, to ensure that the system is optimised for each and every scan.
Long-life battery
S.T.A.R. sensors utilise a low power design, and benefit from the latest industrial Li-ion battery technology, enabling continuous screening activities of up to 4 hours.

Efficient scanning
S.T.A.R. sensors ergonomically align the device with the curvature of the asset being screened. This low friction arc design also enables smooth movements along the surface of the asset being screened, and ensures that the required sensor-to-asset distance is maintained.
S.T.A.R.s workflow software calculates the specific scan angles required, to achieve the level of coverage determined, within a risk based inspection plan.

S.T.A.R. TRACK – TECHNOLOGY
Handsfree voice control
S.T.A.R. workflow software guides the user through the screening process, ensuring that scans are conducted optimally, and in the correct order. Benefiting from voice input controls, with S.T.A.R. the user can always keep their PPE gloves on, and have a free hand available to further enhance safety.
The S.T.A.R. display device is pre-configured with Microsoft® Teams, so where cellular or wi-fi connectivity is available, users can share live output, with remote team members.

Ensuring data quality
During data capture, the S.T.A.R. system continuously monitors the sensors relative scan speed and orientation. In the event that a scan is conducted too quickly, or at the wrong angle, the workflow software will inform the operator, and instruct that the activity is repeated before the data can be saved.
S.T.A.R.’s workflow software carefully guides the operator to ensure that all activities are conducted in the correct order and in an optimal manner – ensuring successful data capture to ensure dependable outputs.

S.T.A.R. ANALYSE – TECHNOLOGY
Secure cloud data storage
Subtera’s S.T.A.R. cloud is implemented using industry best practices, and with consideration for regional data privacy requirements.
Cloud AI and data processing
Using a suite of sensors embedded within our cameras, in combination with customised processing algorithms and tailored machine learning, S.T.A.R. automatically locates anomalies within the screening data.

S.T.A.R. REPORT – TECHNOLOGY
Actionable reports
Subtera’s S.T.A.R. system leverages AI technology in conjunction with the output from Subtera’s automated analysis, to automatically generate detailed activity reports.
Additional data includes visible and thermal images recorded during the activity, and all of the information input during the scoping phase of the activity, resulting in a rich, insightful and actionable report.
