How it Works
Passive terahertz sensing

HUMAN SAFE TECHNOLOGY
See beneath
Our safe and non-intrusive screening solutions passively measure natural terahertz (THz) light to detect hidden CUI, and locate moisture, through polymeric cladding and insulation while assets remain operational.
Uncorroded metal is a poor emitter of terahertz light. When metal corrodes, the change in state allows photons of terahertz light to be more easily radiated. Subtera’s technology measures this change in the intensity of terahertz transmitting through the non-metallic cladding. The intensity of radiated terahertz is proportional to the process temperature.
Moisture absorbs, and radiates, terahertz light too; Subtera measures this change in localised intensity to detect trapped moisture.
Combining our advanced passive terahertz sensing, with thermal and inertial sensors, Subtera’s technology provides asset integrity teams with a clear understanding of an asset’s underlying condition.
